The unique geometry and geothermal properties of caves have sparked the imagination of many modern architects.

In Ürgüp, Cappadocia, people created homes and warehouses from the natural sandstone surroundings. In the United Kingdom, a set of cave houses at Kinver were inhabited up until the 1960s, according to Claire Hale, Visitor Operations and Experience Manager at the National Trust. On June 13-14, CATP will host Rendezvous in the Caves, a weekend in which cave homes and enterprises usually closed to the public will welcome visitors. From a distance, the wall looks like vanilla frosting roughly applied. Up close, I see nuggets of caramel-colored stone, faint brown streaks…and an oyster shell. The wall before me is 100 million years old, the raw edge of a cave scraped into a cliff above the Loire River.

“In some rooms you can still see the date of the canava imprinted into the walls." Today, you can reach this cool, sandstone cave via an easy, five-mile hike to the cave by following the Aliso Creek Trail to the Woods Canyon Trail to the Dripping Springs spur trail. Be sure make the detour to explore Cave Rock along the way, which has several cave-like alcoves to climb inside. If caves bored into the side of mountains aren’t wild enough for you, you and a guest can sleep 500 feet below ground in Sweden’s historic Sala Silvermine suite. The mine itself was a leading producer of silver during the 16th century all the way to the 20th century when it closed.

We’ll help you select your adventure and give you lives to get there. You can live out your bohemian fantasies in this rock house in Sedona, Arizona, which according to the host was used as a shelter by indigenous Americans over 600 years ago. The cave is well-hidden on the host's property so you will need a guide to show you the way. This romantic abode also features a jacuzzi tub in the stone-laden bathroom, a fireplace, and a beautiful circular-shaped entrance that invokes the hobbit homes of the "Lord of the Rings" trilogy. The room has a King-sized bed and boasts bonus amenities like a small kitchenette with a minifridge and coffee maker.

Mitchell Caverns are located in the Providence Mountains State Recreation Area within the Mojave National Preserve. The caves are off of Interstate 40,15 miles northwest of the Essex Road exit. The nearest major towns are Needles 56 miles away, and Barstow 115 miles away. During the rainy season these caves aren’t accessible due to the sheer volume of water passing through. Boyden Cavern is a seasonal cave because Highway 180 is closed during the winter. The road is generally closed between mid-November and late April, but exact dates are dependent on weather.

Unique destinations in the U.S. and Canada are our special obsession. Use our attraction recommendation and maps to plan your next road trip. From the caves there is a great view of the famous HOLLYWOOD sign. Dynamic duo Bethany and Drew explore a man-made cave used in over 100 Hollywood movies and TV shows. The cave that has played home to the caped crusader, a hideout for countless heists, and the sexy scene for soft core sci-fi erotic films such as Flesh Gordon isn’t truly a cave.

However, with two Queen beds, a record player, television, and a library, humans should survive a few nights in this 80,000-square-foot suite. The cave has two beds, three hammocks, and is decked out with dreamy colorful lights and candles. Beds come with beautiful Native American quilts for keeping cozy. It's located inside Utahs' Grand Staircase Monument on a 40-acre farm, so you will need to have a car with four-wheel-drive to access it. Many of the subterranean spaces take advantage of existing mines, while others are made fresh with local mining equipment. The "dugout" homes are cheaper to build than conventional units and require little air conditioning, a boon in an area where average daily temperatures approach 100 degrees in the summer.

Go spelunking in the caves of California to traverse through mysterious corridors, lava-formed caverns, and stalagmite-covered grots. As we approached the cave, the contrast between green grass and moss against the colorful graffiti became quite interesting. Set in the scorching South Australia desert, the small town of Coober Pedy is often called the Opal Capital of the World, since the region is the source of 80% of those glittering precious stones. The name Coober Pedy is often interpreted as a mangling of the Aboriginal words for "white men in holes," since Australians have been mining there since 1916. About half of the population of Coober Pedy still lives in cave houses.

Now, visitors can enjoy a safer, more comfortable tour; walk along 440 steps to discover well-lit treasures and cave formations showcasing the captivating, spiky aragonite crystals. Other remarkable formations even earned their own nicknames—look out for "Bridal Veil," "Drapery," and "Lasagna Factory”. Cave exploring has never been more fascinating. Once you’re done, you can either go back to the car or go to the Vanalden Vista for a longer hike. If you’re up for more adventures, as we mentioned above, Cave of Munits is right around the corner. Another awesome cave, if you’re willing to drive, is Wind Caves in Anza Borrego.

Life Without Light: Creatures in the Dark With Sarah McAnulty

Softly illuminated by the light from a glass-paned door, my room was womblike, the silence of the tuffeau mysterious and absolute. I knew the monks hid in deeper tunnels, that my room likely occupied only the mouth of one of their caves. In wakeful moments, I imagined their ghosts stirring deep inside the stone. A huge advantage of subterranean building is climate control; the effects of the ever-changing weather can be vastly ignored when your building is buried deep within a mountain. This benefit is what inspired Clayton Korte to blend the stable needs of wine production and storage with the safe and unaffected cave dwelling. This private wine cave is embedded into a north-facing, limestone hillside, making it virtually disappear into its surroundings.

Many historical cave villages dug into sandstone or volcanic rock have survived around the world, with families still living in some, and others now open for tourists to visit. We head for the flatlands west of Saumur the next day, where miles of caves lie under planted fields and tidy stone villages. Here, some of the quarrying began with an opening on the surface that fanned out, creating vast cathedral-ceiling rooms below.

The trail will lead you into large talus caves which are formed by the humongous boulders which are incredibly fun to wander, climb, and scramble through. Definitely bring flashlights or headlamps because it can get very dark in some spots. Pinnacles National Park is home to two different sets of caves, Bear Gulch Cave and Balconies Caves.

The 45-minute tour of the cave involves 208 stairs down into the cavern and 232 back up. In all, you will be climbing what is equivalent to a 16-story building. There is no crawling involved but there are some tighter squeezes and you might have to stoop to avoid hitting you head in spots. This cave still has guided walking tours which vary in length between 45 and 80 minutes in length dependent on the season. Shasta Lake was formed in 1945 when the Shasta Dam was completed, flooding the area below the carverns.

From far away, the cave’s entrance looks like a giant arch that opens up to an almost pitch-black room. However, once you get closer and go inside, the ceiling has big skylights that let tons of light in. There are graffiti and carvings all over the walls inside and outside the cave. Once you’re done exploring the inside of the cave, there are trails on both sides of it that would take you to the top of the cave. The trail is a little narrow, especially if you’re walking in between the skylights.

The Milwaukee Bucks are the first NBA champions to visit the White House since 2016

After routing the Michigan State Spartans to the tune of 84-62, Baylor packed for a trip to Washington, which took place on July 20, 2005. Baylor University is located in Waco, Texas, so President Bush made sure to refer to the Lady Bears as “some highly successful women from the neighborhood” in his opening remarks. Bush then individually acknowledged almost every member of the team, including Texas-born pitcher Josh Beckett and catcher Ivan “Pudge” Rodriguez, who spent the first 12 years of his MLB career in a Rangers uniform. The New Jersey Devils passed on visiting the White House after their Stanley Cup victory in 2000, having previously made the trip only five years prior. But there was a new face in the Oval Office after the team’s 2003 win, and the Red Wings elected to meet with President Bush on Sept. 29, 2003. Bush praised the team for its competitiveness and compassion, specifically singling out defenseman Scott Stevens for his commitment to the Boys and Girls Clubs of Newark and the Hockey Fights Cancer campaign.

Only a few teams visited President Reagan during his two terms in office, so when the 1985 NBA champion Los Angeles Lakers stopped by on June 10, 1985, they made it count. Head coach Pat Riley and players like Magic Johnson and Kareem Abdul-Jabbar each came out to give the president a gift, and by the end he was in possession of a No. 1 Lakers jersey, T-shirt, hat and autographed basketball. Little did anyone know that the Lakers would win the title twice more over the following three seasons. Not to be outdone by Duke, who twice brought President Obama a framed jersey after its wins, the 2016 NCAA champion Villanova Wildcats gifted the president two framed jerseys — home and away — during their visit to the White House on May 31, 2016. The win over UNC was the school’s first title in more than three decades, and Villanova was the last men’s basketball team to visit with Obama before his term ended. The two met for the fourth time on March 2, 2016, squeezing in one more visit before Obama left office.

Franz Wagner breaks open Game 4 with intensity

Like literally every other interaction in the Donald Trump presidency, a championship team’s visit to the White House invariably becomes a Political Event, whether because of who’s invited, who’s disinvited, who makes a statement, or what’s on the menu. And like literally every other interaction in the Trump presidency, it wasn’t always like this. Biden praised the "power of a team's example in not just winning the title," adding that players "took a stand for justice and peace in the wake of Jacob Blake's shooting in Kenosha, Wis."

Boston Red Sox (MLB)

This was also the second time in three seasons that both the Galaxy and the Los Angeles Kings hockey team were champions. So, as it did after the 2012 wins, the White House held a ceremony to honor both teams on Feb. 2, 2015. Since the president already owned a No. 1 “Obama” jersey, the one given to him at this event said “Barack” instead. The Boston Bruins beat the Vancouver Canucks in seven games to win the Stanley Cup in 2011, and they were rewarded with a trip to the White House to meet President Obama on Jan. 23, 2012. Kerry was not only a representative of Massachusetts at the time, but he was also a huge hockey fan. In fact, Kerry famously attended the Bruins’ White House ceremony sporting two black eyes he sustained after taking a stick to the face during a family hockey match the previous weekend.

The defending champion Bucks were welcomed by President Joe Biden to the White House on Monday. LeBron James was slated for a return visit in April to celebrate the 2020 Los Angeles Lakers, but that trip got canceled because of scheduling conflicts and COVID-19 concerns. "It's an unbelievable opportunity to be able to be in the White House meeting the President of the United States. I could not be as honored and happy that something like this ever -- ever comes -- something like this in my life." "What makes it even more special is you won the title with your brother, who is here today. And you join another brother already with a ring. What a hell of a family. "Sons living the dream of an immigrant family from Nigeria and then Greece in search of new opportunity.

The Detroit Red Wings repeated as Stanley Cup champs in 1998, this time after sweeping the Washington Capitals. They again visited the White House and President Clinton too, this time on Jan. 28, 1999. The first time, Clinton was given a No. 1 jersey; the second time, the jersey bore the No. 98. Oh, and it was a home sweater instead of an away one, probably because the Red Wings were beginning to feel like the White House was their second home. Trump was fiercely critical of NFL players who kneeled during the national anthem as part of an effort to spotlight the issue of police brutality impacting Black men and women.

Bleacher Report: Mock draft after NCAA Tournament

At the June 17, 2003, ceremony, UConn guard and future three-time WNBA champion Diana Taurasi was the one who presented President Bush with a custom jersey. When the Tennessee Volunteers football team fended off Florida State in the Fiesta Bowl to become national champions, the Vols earned a trip to the White House on Aug. 17, 1999. When they arrived, they didn’t just have a custom jersey for President Clinton, they also had one for Tennessee native Al Gore. As you can probably tell, Gore was just a bit more excited than Clinton, and the words “Al Gore” and “excited” are rarely used in the same sentence.

The first MLB champions believed to visit the White House were the 1924 Washington Senators, who traveled two miles from their home ballpark to shake hands with Calvin Coolidge the following season. Trump preemptively disinvited the Golden State Warriors in 2017 after the team's biggest star, Steph Curry, told reporters he planned to vote no when the players came together to decide whether to visit the White House. In the hours before the ceremony, the Bucks posed for pictures near the South Lawn, with guard Pat Connaughton posting a selfie of the team on his Twitter account.

White House championship visits over the years

Bush was also honoring the NCAA men’s champion, the Maryland Terrapins, at the same ceremony. Almost five years to the day after Diana Taurasi and the 2003 NCAA women’s basketball champion UConn Huskies visited the White House, Taurasi was back meeting with President Bush again, this time as a member of the Phoenix Mercury, the 2007 WNBA champions. The victory was the first for the team, and the Mercury was honored in Washington on June 23, 2008.

After defeating the heavily favored Soviet Union in the so-called “Miracle on Ice” and then winning gold, President Jimmy Carter singled out members of Team USA at a White House ceremony on Feb. 25, 1980 — just three days after their historic win. Even though nine players from the Tennessee A&I championship teams went on to play professional basketball, their accomplishments quickly receded in the Jim Crow South. On Monday, the Warriors’ played their lone regular season road game against the Wizards in an MLK Day matinee, and with the team having two full days between games on their current road trip, the schedule aligned with that of the President for Tuesday’s White House visit. The Golden State Warriors returned to the White House as national champions on Tuesday -- their first trip back since Barack Obama's presidency, despite winning two championships while former President Donald Trump was in office. The Pittsburgh Steelers were the first Super Bowl champions to visit, sharing a bill with the Pittsburgh Pirates to meet President Carter in 1980.

Not only did he want to make up for his previous snub, but First Lady Hillary Clinton was gearing up for a run in the U.S. She famously donned a Yankees cap at the June 10 ceremony, a pandering move that she later admitted to regretting. After winning Super Bowl XXVII in 1993, the Dallas Cowboys also won Super Bowl XXVIII the next year and were rewarded with another trip to the White House on March 1, 1994. Less than three weeks later, following years of friction with owner Jerry Jones, head coach Jimmy Johnson announced he was leaving the team. However, before we get started, it’s worth mentioning that not every team gets an invite and not every team accepts the invitation, for various reasons. Also, some of these ceremonies had only a small number of press photographers present or occurred a long time ago, so photos aren’t available for every meet and greet.

Referencing his enraged interview earlier in the season, Obama said, “I considered letting Sherman up here to the podium today, giving him the mic, but we’ve got to go in a little bit,” which was received with smiles and laughs by all in attendance. However, Obama then got serious when he praised Sherman’s ability to overcome adversity in his life and accomplish great things, much like the Seahawks did on their way to a 43-8 victory over the Denver Broncos in the big game. The Baltimore Ravens only had to travel a short distance from their home turf to Washington a few months after a win over the San Francisco 49ers in Super Bowl XLVII, meaning the whole team was present to pose with President Obama on the White House lawn on June 5, 2013. Although he teased players such as Jacoby Jones, Joe Flacco, Ed Reed and Ray Lewis, Obama made a big impression on the team, with head coach John Harbaugh repeatedly remarking afterward how cool the whole experience was.

Although President Bush previously invited the LSU championship football team to the White House in 2004, he appeared to get an even bigger kick out of the 2007 version of the team when it visited him on April 7, 2008. In addition to the obligatory jersey, Bush was also given a personalized football bearing his name, the LSU Tigers’ name and the final score of their BCS National Championship Game against the top-ranked Ohio State Buckeyes. The Super Bowl XLI champion Indianapolis Colts had an especially meaningful visit to the White House on April 23, 2007. The Colts spent 15 minutes listening to President Bush repeatedly praise them, and a few lucky players were unexpectedly pulled into the Oval Office for a special, impromptu, 30-minute tour and meeting with Bush himself. In return, the president was given a custom No. 43 jersey emblazoned with his name and a Stetson hat that featured the Colts logo. On July 12, 2005, President George W. Bush invited what was then the largest group of NCAA champions ever gathered at the White House to celebrate various wins throughout 2004 and 2005.

Mardi Gras ship details, destinations, deck plans and more

mardi gras carnival cruise

Through at least April 2026, Carnival Jubilee offers two seven-night Western Caribbean itineraries out of its Galveston home port on a regular rotation. Both types of sailings begin and end in Galveston and visit Mahogany Bay in Roatan and Costa Maya and Cozumel in Mexico with three sea days mixed in. The only difference between the two itineraries is the order in which the port calls and sea days occur. During "halftime," the ship's theater singers and dancers put on a show on the pool deck, dressed in team colors to support the fictional Carnival University — the team cruisers are supposedly cheering on during the festivities. Of the performances, I most enjoyed two main-theater shows that are also found on some other ships in the fleet. Back inside, Deck 6's Piano Bar is where passengers can order a tipple while an onboard pianist tickles the ivories.

WISH MARDI GRAS® HAD EVEN MORE FUN?

Mardi Gras is an Excellence-class cruise ship operated by Carnival Cruise Line. She is Carnival's lead vessel of the fleet's Excel-class, a subclass of the Excellence class, and was built by Finnish shipbuilder Meyer Turku in Turku, Finland. Mardi Gras has been subject to numerous delays in her construction, delivery, and debut amid the COVID-19 pandemic and its subsequent impact on tourism. First scheduled for a summer 2020 delivery and debut, she was delivered to Carnival on 18 December 2020. After her debut was postponed on numerous occasions, Mardi Gras began operating weekly sailings on 31 July 2021. Other highlights include the casino, which is by far the largest on Carnival, taking up a significant portion of Deck 7.

Carnival Jubilee zones

Don't be surprised if you step inside and the first place you want to look is upwards. Up there are high ceilings that hint at even more fun living on the three decks above! You'll find floor-to-ceiling windows that really bring in the ocean views. Of course you'll be back here throughout your cruise, taking a break with a nice cup of coffee or a menu of great food choices at JavaBlue™ Café, enjoying performances up on stage, or killing time fabulously at the Grand View Bar.

CLOUD 9 SPA COVE BALCONY

One of the most talked-about features aboard Mardi Gras is the first roller coaster at sea, dubbed BOLT and part of the ship’s open-air recreation area, called the Ultimate Playground. But whatever stateroom you book for a Mardi Gras cruise, whether a suite or otherwise, you can expect modern furnishings, a calming gray and blue color palette, more ample storage space and a luxury resort-style feel. As mentioned, this is the largest ship in Carnival’s fleet, but it also ranks pretty well compared to other mega-ships around the world. At publishing date, Mardi Gras is the ninth-largest cruise ship in the world, outranked by seventh-place ship AIDAnova from AIDA Cruises by a mere 2,000 gross tonnage. Stunning and spacious accommodations include over 20 different categories, along with several levels of suites, more than on any other Carnival ship.

CARNIVAL EXCEL SUITE

It's tied with Carnival Celebration for the title of the largest ship in Carnival's fleet. This meant it wasn't at capacity, but it still felt loud and crowded, and often was fraught with lines. However, the service was generally excellent, with an exceedingly friendly crew. Carnival ensures there’s enough love to go around with age-appropriate programs and activities for all ages.

First Roller Coaster at Sea

You'll find it's an affordable Caribbean vacation that speaks to just about any traveler who enjoys a large-cruise-ship experience. Carnival Mardi Gras main dining rooms feature select items from the onboard steakhouse, available for an additional fee. Seafood lovers are pampered with the Seafood Shack - New England-inspired casual eatery. It offers both indoor and outdoor seating and the menu includes steamed lobster, lobster rolls, fried shrimp, fried clams, crab cakes, and other seafood surprises. Seafood Shack serves lunch and dinner and is priced a la carte starting at $4. Like the Vista-class Carnival liners, Mardi Grass has Havana staterooms with a patio (indoor-outdoor space) with direct access to an exclusive Sundeck area with loungers, Bar and swimming pool.

Carnival Excel Suites

And that's why we're sure you're gonna love The Watering Hole, a poolside bar we're building for aficionados of backyard-style relaxation. And for military folks — or folks who just want to raise a glass to them — please report to Heroes Tribute™ Lounge for great service. We know you guys like soft serve too, so we're throwing in a Swirls™ location — one of two! It's so common for JavaBlue to be backed up throughout the day that an easy-to-miss sign directs passengers to other locations where they can grab a cup of coffee. Meanwhile, lines at the onboard deli and pizzeria counters frequently snake so far down Deck 8 that they block the entrance to seafood restaurant Rudi's Seagrill.

Oddly, there were some discrepancies on board that I was surprised to see on a ship that's been sailing for several months. One afternoon later in the sailing, two different crew members approached me a total of six times in less than half an hour while I was having lunch on the Lido deck. The first five times, I simply said, "No, thanks." After the sixth time, I had enough and told them nicely but firmly to stop asking me. I found the high-pressure sales tactics excessive and irritating when all I wanted to do was eat my meal in peace. When Carnival Cruise Line's Carnival Jubilee debuted in December 2023, it became the third ship in the line's Excel Class, closely mimicking sister ships Mardi Gras and Carnival Celebration.

Fun drinks

It's where you'll find the most quintessentially tropical menu of mixed drinks on board. The menu has several types of meat — including steak, of course, as well as lamb chops and chicken — and seafood items like fish and lobster tail. I went with a 9-ounce filet mignon, which was cooked to perfection. It came alongside several sauces and sides of broccoli and crinkle-cut fries for $49 ($15 for kids). Another excellent dinner during my voyage occurred at Rudi's Seagrill (Deck 8), an upscale seafood restaurant named for chef and pop artist Rudi Sodamin. The lobster macaroni and cheese was the perfect indulgence to start my meal, and I followed it up with a delicious crab cake.

Diverse choices include those designed for families, spa enthusiasts and more, ranging from inside staterooms to large balconied suites. A stateroom featuring the most indoor space, a balcony and some of the best perks on the ship. Relax in your own personal outdoor oasis… designed for maximum sea breeze and the most stunning views. An Interior stateroom is the most affordable way to cruise, and Mardi Gras’ interiors don’t leave out the comfort!

If you're an ocean lover, look to the Cove balcony cabins on Deck 5 - we’ve heard of people spotting marine life like dolphins from their cabin. Design is more than just the way things look — it’s as much about how they work. And staterooms aboard Mardi Gras are packed with innovative changes to both.

With ample living space, bigger bathrooms, and more drawer space, the Deluxe Inside and Inside Staterooms become your home away from home while on board. Celebrity Edge is sailing with Starlink - the world’s most advanced broadband satellite internet - to bring you high-speed connectivity for a better onboard experience.

From Its Deck Plan to the Magic Carpet, Celebrity Edge Stays True to Its Name

Celebrity Edge is a different ship from the rest of the Celebrity Cruises fleet and was designed to attract people who have never cruised before. Celebrity typically draws middle- and upper-class folks in their mid-40s and older. During school holidays, the line's ships usually see a number of families with children, and the same may occur on Celebrity Edge (although the ship was not designed with families in mind). With all these changes, there's a good chance past Celebrity cruisers, expecting the quiet sophistication that they've come to know and love from the line, are not going to be thrilled.

The Infinite Veranda and Sky Suite Top the List of Celebrity Edge Cabins

It can be positioned on Decks 5 and 14, where it serves as an eatery or bar. On special days, it climbs to Deck 16 for exclusive brunches and dinners "on the Edge." Additionally, the Celebrity Edge captain is Kate McCue, who is the first – and currently only – American female to captain a major cruise ship. Edge Accessible Staterooms are designed with wider doors, roll-in showers, grab bars, and other special features for guests with mobility issues and other disabilities. Every effort is taken to deliver easy ship access and an unrivaled cruise vacation for our guests. Set sail from Seattle, the Emerald City, with its modernized cityscapes and breathtaking waterfront views, and make your way toward wild Alaska. Take in some of the most unforgettable views in the Last Frontier straight from your Infinite Veranda.

Reimagined spaces feature larger living areas, bigger bathrooms, and a king-size bed in 99% of our rooms—an industry first for premium cruise lines—plus Celebrity’s eXhale® bedding featuring the Cashmere™ Mattress. The Infinite Veranda takes your room right to the water’s edge, giving you open air access to the sea with the touch of a button. These staterooms feature the latest in design and technology, and they’re 23% larger than our award-winning Solstice® Series veranda staterooms. Each one of our Edge Single Staterooms with Infinite Veranda offers you your own Infinite Veranda, so you can enjoy private open-air views of the sea and the places you’ll visit along your journey.

Or step outside at the Rooftop Garden to witness the grandeur of glaciers calving. But those who appreciate stylish, contemporary design will fall in love. In a few short years, Celebrity Edge has become a favorite for many adult cruisers seeking a sophisticated experience. For our new Edge Class accommodations, famed interior designer Kelly Hoppen took the lead on design. Her vision evokes the intimacy of an inviting, indulgent urban apartment that opens to the most beautiful scenery on earth.

Celebrity Edge is an Edge-class cruise ship operated by Celebrity Cruises, a subsidiary of Royal Caribbean Group. After the new vessel was ordered with French shipbuilder STX France in December 2014, her keel was laid in June 2017 and she was floated out in January 2018. Upon delivery in October 2018, at 130,818 GT, she became the lead ship of the Edge class and the largest ship by gross tonnage to have joined the Celebrity fleet. Larger living spaces and expansive views make Oceanview Staterooms the ideal place to unwind at sea.

The ship has turned tendering -- that often unpleasant experience where you have to board a small boat to get to a port -- into an infinitely more pleasant experience. The Magic Carpet is a tennis court-sized moveable deck, kitted out with an open-air lounge and bar. From there, it's a breeze to get onto the tenders, or you can stay to get a drink and watch others get on and off -- talk about people-watching. Edge Series accommodations have the latest technology to precisely adjust nearly every comfort feature. Veranda Staterooms add the luxury of outdoor space to enjoy the sweeping ocean views.

You’ll still experience the highest standards of cleanliness, plus the added flexibility of choosing your preferred time of service -all while traveling more responsibly. It’s the little things that make a big difference, such as an exclusive lunch, a destination seminar and dedicated service throughout your journey. The ultimate in spa-inspired experiences, these staterooms indulge at every turn. Locate your stateroom, and our world-class amenities and venues throughout the ship.

With the widest range of staterooms in the Celebrity fleet, there’s a room on Celebrity Edge® perfect for your vacation needs. From our new Single Staterooms—designed for modern travelers who love to explore the world on their own—to our perfectly indulgent Panoramic Ocean View Staterooms. 178 possible options of connecting staterooms make it easier than ever for families and friends to get together and get away in modern comfort. Combinations include two adjoining Edge Staterooms with Infinite Verandas® connected to become one, and the Iconic Suite and the Royal Suite connected to create our largest unique combination that comfortably sleeps 10. Brilliant innovations give you open air access to the sea, whenever you wish.

Celebrity Beyond: Discover Our Newest Ship Celebrity Cruises

Instead of a traditional outdoor space for a balcony, an ingenious indoor patio, reminiscent of a sunroom, lies just beyond folding glass doors. With the doors open, the room feels more spacious, though the best part may just be the on-demand outdoor balcony—made possible by opening the floor-to-ceiling window. The Edge Villa is even bigger, with 739 square feet inside and 211 square feet outside. There are only six of these two-story villas on the ship, so you’ll want to be sure you snatch this one up fast.

Juneau Takes Steps to Limit Cruise Ship Passengers

With over 1,400 crew members, there was always a willing hand near-by with a greeting or offer of assistance. Walking the ship, the service was warm and friendly whereas the wait staff in the dining spaces edged closer to formal, though not stuffy. If you book an AquaClass Sky Suite, you also get a personal butler who comes in handy for dinner reservations. Finally, the crew came from over 60 different countries and they all wore their home country on their name tag which made for some great conversation starters.

Princess Cruises Teams Up to Offer Easy Transportation to Florida Ports

Other attractions included the cold seafood towers (for $70) at Raw on Five and the kebab stand that is part of the expansive buffet. Guests commonly choose to provide extra tips, in local currency, to their stateroom steward and/or other crew members who provided exceptional service during the cruise. The Theater on Celebrity Beyond is an eye-popping space with a 20-foot-tall 4K LED screen that makes stunning use of 17 million pixels, 110 feet curvature around the stage, and immersive new floor projection technology. The entertainment on Beyond is perfectly suited to such a magnificent venue. She often brings to the bridge her Sphynx cat named Bug Naked, whose semi-official title on board is "Maneuvering Support Mammal".

Fellow Passengers

While you can still find things for the kiddos to do, note that most activities are upscale activities for parents and couples, as well as focus on general relaxation. Get away from the masses at the Retreat, a private resort area within the ship. On May 10, 2022, Celebrity Cruises announced that gymnast Simone Biles will be the godmother of the ship.

But so many improvements have been made to the 3,260-passenger vessel, including adding length as well as an extra deck, that the Celebrity Beyond experience does, in fact, surpass its predecessors. The ship’s smoke-free casino provides all your favorite games, and Celebrity offers its guests a casino rewards program, wherein you can earn points and rewards the more you play. Cabanas are available for rent around the pool area; though they’re pricey (around $500), they do come with lots of amenities, like free-flowing drinks and food. The Concierge Class of staterooms also offer Infinite Verandas, but additionally adds VIP services that you won’t get in other classes of cabins. Additionally, overall, while these ships offer plenty and are technically “mega” ships, they’re not among the largest in the world.

Then he cruised on Celebrity Edge, “and discovered the world of cooking on a ship that size,” he says. Lastly, the ship’s Iconic Suites are known for their 2,500 square feet of indoor and outdoor space, and panoramic views everywhere you look. The suites are positioned over the ship’s bridge and provide an experience you’ll be hard-pressed to find on other cruise lines’ ships. Celebrity Beyond’s suites can be found within The Retreat, the ship’s all-suite area that features far more than just suites. As so many other cruise lines have done, Celebrity has crafted The Retreat into a space upon its newer ships that’s like … well, a retreat!

Captain Kate McCue Takes the Helm of our Most Revolutionary Ship Yet

Boulud says his goal with the menu was to showcase global cuisine and to highlight his expertise beyond French cooking. I’m still dreaming about the warm lemon-scented madeleines that arrived at meal’s end. Celebrity Beyond is the third ship in the brand’s Edge class of vessels; its sister ships are Celebrity Edge and Celebrity Apex. Celebrity Edge, which debuted in 2018, was such a departure from mainstream mega-ships it was named to Time magazine’s World’s Great Places list in 2019. Celebrity Cruises dropped its vaccination requirement in September 2022 for sailings departing from the U.S. and Europe. The Martini Bar, located in the center of the ship, is the showpiece, featuring live music, inviting lounge chairs, and affable bartenders.

Edge-class ships within the Celebrity fleet truly go all out with the entertainment, providing tech-heavy, state-of-the-art, theatrical performances. Element is a show that focuses on the five elements and blends tech with acrobatics and choreography. If you’re not into the poolside crowds, head to the adults-only solarium, which boasts its own pool and hot tub. Locate your stateroom, and our world-class amenities and venues throughout the ship.

Celebrity Beyond is now equipped with Starlink internet service by SpaceX, bringing you high speed connectivity. Both offer age-appropriate programming, activities and amenities like video game systems and games. Camp at Sea provides programming tucked away in the bottom of the ship, for ages 4 and up to 12 (an area for the under-3 crew is also provided, but parents can’t leave their children unattended).

Inside staterooms measure in at between 181 and 202 square feet, and each inside stateroom is sleek and modern, for an upscale, hip hotel feel (the same as you’ll find throughout all the staterooms). Cruisers enjoy more living space than they might in interior cabins on other cruise ships. Features include a desk, separate sitting area, and large bathrooms with showers.

Couples and groups of friends are the norm, although you might find Gen Xers traveling with their Gen Z adult children. While families aren't discouraged on Celebrity Beyond, the ship doesn't have waterslides or other attractions that might attract younger children. Celebrity Cruises has gone out of its way, more so than any other premium cruise line, to promote diversity. Recently the line held a photo shoot on Celebrity Beyond showing under-represented groups enjoying a cruise on the ship, led by photographer icon Annie Leibowitz.

There is also a two-story theater with entertainment every night, offering a variety of shows from dance to concerts, from Broadway-like performances to magic shows. If shopping is more of your thing, you’ll find a number of retail options featuring fine jewelry, watches, items inspired from the varying ports of call, and even a dedicated men’s store. The friendliness of the crew was among the top highlights of the entire sailing experience on Beyond.

If you're looking for the suite life, Celebrity Beyond has more choices than before, and the amenities are also upsized. Highlights include the 1,892-square-foot Iconic Suite, where you're treated the same views as the bridge with a ton of private outdoor space. There's also a two-story Edge Villa that has fantastic design by Hoppen, as well as its own cute plunge pool. Ocean view staterooms are just slightly larger, at between 200 and 242 square feet. Do note, though, that the ocean views aren’t as spectacular as you might be hoping. These cabins merely offer a small, rectangular window on one side of the cabin, near the sitting area.
